BYD has launched three new electric vehicles in Europe. One of them is Han EV. In Europe, the BYD Han EV, which was discontinued in May 2022, will be upgraded with a larger battery and longer range. Here’s what we know about it so far:

Exterior of new BYD Han EV

At the front, the new BYD Han EV doesn’t look any different from the original Han EV launched in Europe in 2020. BYD used a more curvilinear bumper with C-shaped gloss black molding on the outer edge and higher air intakes at the bottom. For a new look on the side, the company offers new alloy wheels. The rear looks very different, mostly due to slim, full-width taillights with inverted outer edges. The updated model also features a cleaner, sportier rear bumper. In Norway, BYD offers the Han EV in Snow White, Space Black, Emperor Red, AI Blue and Time Gray.

Interior of new BYD Han EV

The Han EV’s interior has undergone many changes since its launch. BYD added a heads-up display and improved the central touchscreen interface. The seats are new both front and rear and feature integrated headrests. Finally, the seat seam pattern is unique. Interior colors are light brown and dark brown.

The Euro-spec BYD Han EV comes standard with a twin-motor powertrain. The all-wheel drive layout produces 380 kW (509 hp) of system power and 700 Nm (516 lb.-ft.) of combined torque, and the powertrain accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph). make it possible. It reaches a top speed of 185 km/h (115 mph) in just 3.9 seconds.

With an 85.4 kWh battery pack (blade battery), the improved Han EV can travel 521 km on a full charge according to WLTP. The E-segment electric sedan is less powerful in terms of charging, with a top auxiliary charging power of only 6.6 kW (AC) / 120 kW (DC). A heat pump system is fitted as standard and is particularly useful in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, where the winters are long and extremely cold.

Deliveries of new BYD Han EV

Deliveries of the BYD Han EV to the European market, including Norway, are scheduled to start in December 2022. Norway is so far BYD’s only European market for passenger cars. The Tang EV is the only product in the country and has sold about 2,500 units as of August 26, 2022. In the coming months, we plan to expand into the UK, Sweden, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. In Germany, BYD has announced a pre-sale price for the Han EV at €72,000.

Pricing of new BYD Han EV

BYD have yet not revealed the pricing of new BYD Han EV for Europe. We will let you know when it reveals its price for Europe.

With a long-lasting LFP battery pack, a powerful powertrain and plenty of features, the Han EV is tens of thousands of euros below the current benchmark, the Tesla Model S. With a relatively unknown position in Europe and ruthless competition, Chinese companies need persistence to gain market share. BYD needs to stay on its toes as Mercedes (EQE, EQE AMG), Audi (A6 e-Tron) and BMW (i5) poise to dominate its premium electric sedan segment through 2024.
