BMW has announced the new BMW i7 xDrive60sedan, the latest weapon in the fight against Tesla. 

BMW, the biggest name in the luxury vehicles segment from Germany is always ahead in the race of manufacturing luxury vehicles with new innovations whether it be on petrol/gas variant or an electric variant. BMW is the brand which never disappoint its customer in any aspects whether it be luxury, power, performance or looks/ design. 

BMW has recently launched its top-class luxury sedan in the electric segment. In this article we will be digging deep on BMW’s brand-new electric launch the BMW i7 xDrive60. 

The German carmaker has announced the latest iteration of its largest and most luxurious 7 Series sedan. Products in 2023 include a gas-powered version with 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder engines, as well as a battery-powered i7.

With a big name comes the bigger responsibility. As said BMW have packed its new electric sedan with dual motor set up which can combinedly produce 536 horsepower with total torque of 745nm enough to blow up a huge 5,900-pound sedan.

To provide power to the amazing dual motor combo, BMW has packed its new electric sedan with an advanced lithium ion battery pack which has a total capacity of 105.0kWh where battery usable is only 101.7kWh.

This new BMW i7 xDrive60 comes with an amazing range of 510km which is higher in number as compared to other EV’s in this segment. Vehicle consumption is stated to be 199 Wh/km. Vehicle Fuel Equivalent is stated as 2.2 l/100km.

The new BMW i7 xDrive60 takes about 11 hours to fully fuel it up on normal charging conditions. The charging port of this sedan EV is located at the rear – right side of the EV.

According to BMW, the i7 can add an 80-mile range with a 10-minute charge, or charge from 1080% in 34 minutes. Buyers can charge at the Electrify America station for free for 3 years.

Fast charging allows you to travel as many distances as possible in the shortest possible time. When it reaches 80% of the state of charge, the charging power drops significantly. Therefore, typical fast charging rarely exceeds 80% of SoCs. The EV quick charge rate depends on the charger used and the maximum charge power the EV can handle.

As known, BMW calls itself the “ultimate driving machine,” the 7 Series emphasizes comfort over agility. It’s a very long, drive-in car manufactured with a priority on the back seats.

The interior of the sedan features a 31.3-inch display that hangs from the ceiling, transforming the backseat into a mobile movie room.  Amazon Fire TV is included and uses the 5G connection in the car.

 Passengers control the entire user interface (and other settings such as climate control and room lighting) through smartphone-sized touch screens built into both doors. A panoramic glass roof is standard in size. 

According to BMW, all car seats are wider than previous models, and buyers can opt for an adjustable backseat with leg rests and massage features. Other notable options include doors that open and close automatically at the push of a button, and more sophisticated interior materials.

Total of 5 people can be seated in this new EV.

The electric flagship will start at $ 120,000 and should hit US dealers by November. Some rumors are circulated regarding early launch of sedan EV but is not confirmed till date by the company BMW itself. The new BMW i7 EV can be pre-ordered with a $ 1,500 deposit on US dealerships of BMW.
